Joe Thuney In Danger Of Missing Super Bowl

Published: Feb 03, 2024 at 06:18 PM
Kansas City Chiefs left guard Joe Thuney (pectoral) is in danger of missing the Super Bowl next Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a league source. Head coach Andy Reid hasn't publicly ruled Thuney out, but the All-Pro offensive lineman didn't practice on Friday and will have to make significant improvement over the next week to have a shot at suiting up in the big game. He has been undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury and whether it's something he can play through, but there hasn't been much optimism. The 31-year-old injured his pectoral muscle in the Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills and did not play in the AFC Championship versus the Baltimore Ravens. If Thuney misses the Super Bowl against San Fran, Nick Allegretti would make a second straight start.
