Chiefs Don't Plan To Trade Chris Jones

Published: Aug 10, 2023 at 08:15 PM
Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones continues his contract holdout during training camp this summer, but the Chiefs have no plans to trade him, according to general manager Brett Veach. "We have no intentions of trading Chris," Veach said. "Since the start of the offseason, Chris has been right at the top of our priorities." Jones is seeking a lucrative long-term contract extension as he heads into the final year of his four-year, $80 million deal. According to a league source, he's looking for a new contact that will make him the second-highest-paid player in the NFL behind the Rams' Aaron Donald, who signed a three-year, $95 million deal last summer. The 29-year-old pass-rusher has made the Pro Bowl each of the last four years in KC and is a top-20 defensive lineman in IDP fantasy leagues after recording 65 sacks in his seven NFL campaigns.
