Brian Burns Has Ankle Surgery

Carolina Panthers pass-rusher Brian Burns (ankle) had surgery on his right ankle last Wednesday, but he's expected to be recovered in time for training camp this summer. He's also expected to return with no limitations for the upcoming regular season in 2023. Burns missed the final regular season game in 2022 with an ankle sprain. The 25-year-old was able to play in the Pro Bowl, but he continued to feel soreness in his ankle when he returned to the offseason program. Tests last week revealed a small fracture. Burns was a Pro Bowler for the second time in his four seasons in the NFL last year, and he finished with career-highs in tackles (63), sacks (12.5), tackles for loss (17) and QB hits (22) while also forcing a fumble in 16 starts.
