Ty Chandler Works As Lead Back After Alexander Mattison's Injury

Published: Nov 13, 2023 at 06:39 PM
Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler went from being a relative unknown in the fantasy world to a top waiver-wire pickup in the span of a week. First, backup Cam Akers suffered a season-ending left Achilles tear last week. Then, lead back Alexander Mattison (concussion) was forced to leave the Week 10 win over the New Orleans Saints, leaving Chandler in the No. 1 role. The 25-year-old saw a team-high 15 carries on Sunday and gained 45 yards (3.0 yards per carry) and the first touchdown of his career. He was not involved in the passing game. Chandler would operate as Minnesota's lead back most likely if Mattison misses any time going forward, beginning with a juicy Week 11 matchup on Sunday night against the sieve-like Denver Broncos run defense.
