Sam LaPorta Visiting Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are hosting Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta this week. LaPorta caught 153 passes for 1,786 yards in four seasons at "Tight End U." He went for over 600 yards his junior and senior seasons and finished in the top ten in receptions and receiving yards in the Big Ten as a senior. PFF ranks LaPorta as the TE3 in this year's draft and the No. 43 prospect overall. The Panthers signed Hayden Hurst in free agency, but they still need to enhance their depth at the position. A 6-4, 249 pounder who excels at catching passes over the middle and adding yards after the catch, LaPorta could be a rookie quarterback's best friend.
