Sam LaPorta Quiets Down In Week 16

Published: Dec 25, 2023 at 06:31 AM
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta logged season lows in targets (three) and yards (18) in Week 16's 30-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings, closing with three receptions. LaPorta crushed a terrible Denver Broncos tight-end coverage unit in Week 15 but was hit hard by regression in this one. Sunday was the worst fantasy effort of LaPorta's inspiring rookie campaign, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for managers who just kicked off their postseason. Not much was asked of LaPorta, though, as the Lions still dropped 30 points on the strength of a few 100-yard showings and three touchdowns across the outputs of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs. The 22-year-old LaPorta will be a fine TE1 despite a tough matchup with the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday, but a possible shootout could brew between two of the NFC's top offenses for Week 17.
