Mitch Trubisky Hasn't Been Named The Starter Yet

Published: Aug 29, 2022 at 06:24 PM
All the signs have pointed to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky starting the Week 1 regular season opener, but head coach Mike Tomlin still has yet to officially announce a starter. Tomlin is going to announced the team's starter at his leisure. Trubisky went 24-for-34 for 283 passing yards and two touchdowns in preseason action this summer. Early on in training camp, he was very inconsistent, leaving the door open for rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph, but Trubisky has seemed to solidify his spot as the starter since then. Pickett has been impressive from Day 1, though, so if Trubisky struggles early in the season, the Steelers could make a switch under center sooner than later.
