Mekhi Blackmon Suffers Torn ACL On First Day Of Camp

Published: Jul 25, 2024 at 01:28 PM
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Mekhi Blackmon (knee) suffered a torn ACL on the first day of training camp on Wednesday. He is likely to miss the entire 2024 season. Needless to say, this is an unfortunate development for the organization and the second-year defensive back. After being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Blackmon posted 41 tackles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and eight pass deflections in 15 games as a rookie. His absence could give Andrew Booth Jr. extra reps and a better chance for snaps as a depth corner in 2024. Since Minnesota was counting on Blackmon to fill a depth role, it wouldn't be a surprise if they bring in a veteran free agent before training camp wraps up.
