Javonte Williams Set For "Big Role" In Week 1

Published: Sep 06, 2023 at 11:40 PM
Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (knee) will play a "big role" in the Week 1 regular season opener against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, according to head coach Sean Payton. There's no question that Williams has had an impressive recovery all offseason after tearing his ACL and LCL in Week 4 of last year. However, all reports to this point have suggested that the Broncos will ease the 23-year-old into the fold alongside Samaje Perine. Williams' health has been great news for the Broncos and his fantasy managers this summer, but it's probably not wise to expect too much, too soon from him despite this report. Perine should also have a big role against the Raiders, making Williams best-served as an RB3/flex in fantasy lineups this weekend.
