Javonte Williams' Quick Recovery Gives Him "Huge Confidence Boost"

Published: Aug 08, 2023 at 12:10 PM
Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (knee) is shining at training camp, per reports, and his quick recovery lends him confidence going into the season. Williams tore his ACL and LCL last Oct. 3, causing him to miss the rest of the season. He had rushed for 204 yards on 47 carries up to that point and gone for over 100 scrimmage yards in Week 1. There were fears that his recovery might have been prolonged, causing him to miss the beginning of the season, but it appears that will not happen. Fellow running back Tony Jones Jr. said of Williams, "I've never seen anyone roll like that fresh off a knee (injury)." Head coach Sean Payton said, "We still have to be mindful of his reps," but he is expected to play in the second game of preseason. Williams said that "being back out here is a huge confidence boost." The positive news about Williams' recovery may boost his fantasy outlook, but managers still need to temper expectations given that Samaje Perine is a capable backup who can help the Broncos ease Williams into his workload early on.
