James Conner's Injury Not Considered Serious

Published: Sep 19, 2022 at 04:34 PM
Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner's ankle injury that he suffered in the Week 2 overtime win over the Las Vegas Raiders is not considered to be long-term or serious, according to a source. Conner stayed in uniform after he was injured and stood on the sidelines, which is a positive sign. Before getting hurt, the 27-year-old lead back had seven carries for only 25 yards, adding two catches on four targets for another 26 yards. With Conner hurt, Darrel Williams and Eno Benjamin had eight carries apiece, with Williams going for 59 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The two combined for five catches and 23 yards through the air. If Conner is unable to play in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, Williams and Benjamin would likely share the backfield, with Williams working more on early downs and Benjamin on pass-catching downs.
