Jaleel McLaughlin Could Have Elevated Role Against Jets

Published: Oct 06, 2023 at 04:32 AM
Denver Broncos undrafted rookie running back Jaleel McLaughlin was a popular waiver-wire pickup this week after leading Denver's backfield in the Week 4 win over the Chicago Bears because of Javonte Williams' (quadriceps) injury. McLaughlin saw a season-high seven carries for 72 yards (10.29 yards per tote) and added three receptions (three targets) for 32 yards and the second touchdown of his career. The 23-year-old was the story of training camp and appears to have already leapfrogged Samaje Perine on the RB depth chart. So if Williams is unable to play in Week 5 against the New York Jets, McLaughlin could have a substantial role in Denver's backfield and be worth an RB3/flex play in fantasy lineups. New York's D has allowed just one rushing TD all year, but they're also surrendering 148 rushing yards per game on the ground (fifth-worst in the NFL) through four weeks.
