Eric Gray Should Be No. 3 Running Back

Published: May 25, 2023 at 06:39 PM
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is the team's unquestioned lead back, with Matt Breida expected to once again serve as his primary backup in 2023. But rookie Eric Gray, a fifth-round pick (172nd overall) this year, should supplant Gary Brightwell for the No. 3 job this year. Obviously, there will be limited opportunities for Gray in that role, barring injuries ahead of him on the depth chart, so he's unlikely to be very productive in his rookie season. The 23-year-old Oklahoma product will have the potential for a bigger role in the future if Barkley and Breida move on, though, so he's worth a late-round flier in deeper dynasty/keeper fantasy drafts.
