Brett Rypien Draws Starting QB Duties For Preseason Finale
Published: Aug 23, 2022 at 06:44 PM
Denver Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien will be under center to begin Saturday's preseason finale against Minnesota, head coach Nathaniel Hackett revealed. Rypien and Josh Johnson have been battling throughout the preseason for backup duties to Russell Wilson, who can be expected to rest again with Rypien starting and Johnson handling the second half. Rypien won the lone start of his NFL career to this point, Week 4 of the 2020 season vs. the Jets. No matter whom Denver has under center, they'll be working with a cache of offensive talent with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy out wide, in addition to Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III in the backfield. The team opens the regular season Sept. 12 vs. Seattle.
