Arik Armstead Will Hit Open Market

Published: Mar 11, 2024 at 01:46 PM
Longtime San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead will be released by the organization, meaning he will hit the open free-agent market. Originally a first-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, Armstead has collected 302 tackles, 33.5 sacks, and six passes defended in 116 career games. He posted six tackles and a sack in Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs last month. Although he is often overshadowed by his superstar teammates, Armstead is one of the better interior defensive linemen in the NFL, so the market for his services should be robust. It's worth noting Armstead underwent knee surgery this offseason to repair a torn meniscus, but he should be ready to go for the 2024 campaign.
