Alexander Mattison Commits Yet Another Blunder

Published: Nov 20, 2023 at 05:35 AM
Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison expectedly shared work with the speedy Ty Chandler in Week 11's 21-20 defeat to the Denver Broncos after the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero signaled it would happen on Sunday morning. Both backs were equally effective in first-half yards per carry, as Mattison took the ball 10 times for 50 yards, highlighted by a bulldozing 15-yard scamper during the first quarter. Mattison was running as well as we've seen all year against Denver's soft run defense, until the five-year veteran coughed up the football for a lost fumble deep into the third quarter. Still without a rushing touchdown this year, Mattison is losing his grip on featured-back duties, and he's had countless opportunities to seize the role throughout the entire campaign. He'll be a volume-driven RB2 at home next Monday night against the Chicago Bears, who just surrendered a pair of rushing scores on Sunday.
