Tua Tagovailoa No Longer A Must-Start QB1
Published: Dec 24, 2022 at 01:45 AM
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has faded from must-start territory in recent weeks and carries some risk ahead of his Week 16 clash with the Green Bay Packers. On Christmas Day, Tagovailoa will face off against a Packers defense that has allowed 15.4 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, including just 4.5 red-zone points. Beyond the tough matchup, Tagovailoa has seen his own fantasy production dwindle, averaging 34.78 fantasy points from Weeks 8 to 10 but just 20.54 points from Weeks 12 to 15. Of course, Tagovailoa has plenty of positives. Miami operates a pass-first offense, head coach Mike McDaniel has shown a willingness to unleash Tagovailoa, and the quarterback has two star wide receivers at his disposal in the thick of a playoff race. Fantasy managers should weigh these pros and cons when deciding whether to start Tagovailoa, a low-end QB1, this week. At the end of the day, though, if better options present themselves, don't hesitate to bench him.
