Texans Plan To Continue Riding Dameon Pierce
Published: Oct 19, 2022 at 04:38 PM
Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith said that rookie running back Dameon Pierce "needs at least 20 carries" per game going forward. The Texans plan to continue giving Pierce a heavy workload coming out of their Week 6 bye. He will be spelled on third downs by veteran pass-catching back Rex Burkhead. Pierce has had double-digit carries in each of his first five NFL games, cut he's seen at least 20 carries in two of his last three games. He went for a season-high 131 yards in Week 4 and came just short of 100 yards rushing in Week 5. The 22-year-old has scored in each of his last three games and will face off against the Las Vegas Raiders this weekend. Pierce will be a strong RB2 for fantasy managers with upside for more based on volume alone.
