Sam Howell Named Week 1 Starter

Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell has officially been named as the team's Week 1 starter, according to head coach Ron Rivera. This news comes a day after Rivera was hesitant to name anyone the starter. It seemed fairly obvious that Howell was going to be the starter all along. He has been taking 100 percent of the first-team reps for the last two weeks in training camp. The fifth-round pick will get full rein of Eric Bieniemy's offense. The 22-year-old could be a favorable streaming option versus the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.
