Panthers Not Ruling Baker Mayfield Out For Sunday Just Yet

Published: Oct 12, 2022 at 12:10 PM
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain and will avoid surgery. However, the Panthers are leaving the door open for him to return to action as soon as this week. The injury typically sidelines players for multiple weeks, but the organization noted that he played the entire second half of Sunday's game against the 49ers despite the ailment. While the probability of the 27-year-old suiting up this week remains low, it does bode well for a possible return next week, or at least sooner rather than later. Fantasy managers are best to move forward under the assumption that P.J. Walker will be under center, which means a slight downgrade for the offensive weapons.
