Javon Hargrave Played The Season With Torn Thumb Ligament

Published: Feb 14, 2024 at 02:01 AM
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (thumb) finished the 2023 season playing with a torn ligament in his thumb, according to general manager John Lynch. It makes Hargraves' second Pro Bowl campaign even more impressive. The 31-year-old finished his first year in San Francisco with 44 tackles (25 solo), seven sacks, eight tackles for loss and 14 QB hits in 16 regular season starts a year after putting up a career-high 11 sacks in 17 regular season contests with the Philadelphia Eagles. It's unclear if Hargrave will need surgery to fix his torn ligament in his thumb, but even if he does, he shouldn't have any issues being ready to go for the start of the 2024 campaign.
