Jake Moody Will Not Play In Final Preseason Game

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quad) will not play in the team's final preseason game on Friday against the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie placekicker injured his quad in practice and will be held out of the team's final preseason contest in hopes that he can be ready for Week 1. You never want to see a kicker with a leg injury but the 49ers spent some rather significant draft capital on Moody with the 99th pick overall in the 2023 draft. He's in line to replace veteran Robbie Gould so they will likely give him all the time he needs to get right. The team should provide another update on his status as we inch closer to the regular season but, for now, Zane Gonzalez is the only healthy kicker in San Francisco.
