Dameon Pierce Not Expected To Play In Week 11

Published: Nov 17, 2023 at 08:49 PM
Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) returned to practice on Friday but is not expected to play in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, according to league sources. He's trending towards being back in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pierce's frustrating sophomore season continues, as he will now miss his third straight game with his ankle injury. The 23-year-old was looking extremely impressive as a rookie before a season-ending injury, but he's averaging just 3.0 yards per carry and has one touchdown in seven games in 2023. Devin Singletary has become Houston's lead back with Pierce hurt and has seen 43 carries in the last two games, including a 30-carry, 150-yard, one-touchdown outburst in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Singletary will once again have RB2 upside this weekend against Arizona. UPDATE: Pierce has officially been ruled out.
