Calvin Ridley May Get Off To Slow Start

Published: Sep 05, 2023 at 11:27 PM
The Athletic's Jeff Howe suggests that Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who has played just five games in the last two years, could be slow out of the gates in his first year in Jacksonville. Ridley has an explosive gear that the team's other receivers don't have and he looks like a legitimate No. 1, even with Christian Kirk alongside him. But Howe writes that there's a big difference between August speed and September speed once the regular season starts. The 28-year-old will have to deal with the intricacies of getting off a jam, weaving through traffic and using the necessary footwork to counter defensive coverage shifts -- all things he couldn't replicate the last two years. Ridley is still the most attractive Jags pass-catcher in fantasy with WR2 upside, but Howe suggests that we might have to be patient.
