Buccaneers Expected To Target Baker Mayfield

Published: Mar 12, 2023 at 10:25 PM
When free agency begins next week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to target ex-Los Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield as a potential starting option. Mayfield could also be competition for Kyle Trask, the team's former second-round pick, who the Bucs like a lot after Tom Brady's retirement. Mayfield was cut by the Carolina Panthers after just seven games, and he latched on with the Rams, appearing in five games (four starts). All in all, he finished with 2,163 passing yards (60% completion percentage), 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The 27-year-old won't be viewed as anything more than a short-term bridge by the Bucs if they sign him this offseason. Mayfield would strictly be a QB2 in fantasy if he became Tampa's starting signal-caller in 2023.
