Saquon Barkley Unlikely To Be Traded

Published: Apr 24, 2023 at 03:00 PM
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley wasn't thrilled that he received the franchise tag, but he was present at workouts led by quarterback Daniel Jones in Arizona this week and is unlikely to be traded by the Giants. The team values him enough to carry his $10.1 million salary cap hit on the tag, and he was an important piece of their success in 2022. However, if the Giants struggle out of the gates early in 2023, Barkley could be attractive at the trade deadline to a contender looking for a rental. The Giants and Barkley have until the middle of July to work out a long-term contract extension after he was the clear MVP of their offense last season. Regardless of contract situation, he'll be a high-end RB1 heading into fall fantasy drafts.
