Raiders Plan To Use Franchise Tag On Josh Jacobs

Published: Mar 03, 2023 at 08:04 PM
The Las Vegas Raiders plan to place the franchise tag on impending free-agent running back Josh Jacobs if the two sides don't reach a contract extension by Tuesday's deadline, according to sources. Jacobs was the NFL's leading rusher in 2022 and is viewed as a big part of the team's future. The 25-year-old rushed for 1,653 yards on 340 carries last year while also accounting for 12 touchdowns as the most valuable RB in the league. He was a man on a mission in 2022 after the Raiders declined to pick up his fifth-year option for the 2023 season. Jacobs isn't going anywhere after his big season, and he'll enter 2023 drafts as a high-end RB1 in fantasy.
