Michael Mayer Dealing With Toe Ailment
Published: Dec 21, 2023 at 11:07 PM
Las Vegas Raiders rookie tight end Michael Mayer (toe) missed the team's first practice of the week on Thursday due to a toe injury. It remains to be seen if Mayer's toe injury is serious enough to keep him out for Monday's Christmas Day game against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs. The 22-year-old is coming off a four-catch, 39-yard, one-touchdown performance in the blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers last Thursday night. In his first year in the NFL, Mayer has been the TE26 in half-PPR scoring in 12 games played, so even if he manages to play against the Chiefs, he'll be a low-end, touchdown-dependent TE2 play in deep leagues in Week 16. If he's out or limited, Austin Hooper would see a bigger pass-catching role for the Raiders at the tight end position on Monday.
