Lamar Jackson Not An Option For Commanders

Published: Mar 09, 2023 at 04:03 PM
Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said that the team isn't seeking another quarterback whose status or salary would automatically top Sam Howell's. Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, who received the non-exclusive franchise tag on Tuesday, is not coming to the Commanders. Jacoby Brissett and Andy Dalton are more realistic for Washington, with either likely competing with Howell this summer. Gardner Minshew, Teddy Bridgewater and Taylor Heinicke could work as bridge QBs. However, many wonder whether Heinicke would want to return after being benched for Carson Wentz late last year. There have been reports that talks of re-signing Heinicke have increased, and it would be his best shot at becoming the starter in D.C. because of Howell's lack of experience.
