Justin Fields Might Keep Running In 2023

Published: Sep 02, 2023 at 04:43 AM
The Chicago Bears are expected to keep finding creative ways to use quarterback Justin Fields' running ability as an asset that keeps drives alive and occasionally leads to a big scoring play. When asked if the team wanted Fields to run less this year to avoid putting himself in harm's way, a Bears official said, "Well, we want him to get hit less." Fields was indecisive on a lot of his 55 sacks in 2022, which is something that should improve in 2023. The 24-year-old isn't just a good runner, he's a historically special runner at the position, picking up 1,143 yards rushing last year. It's part of the reason why he's a popular breakout candidate with high-end QB1 upside if he improves at all in the passing game in his third NFL season. The acquisition of receiver DJ Moore should help Fields evolve as a passer.
