Joe Mixon On The Chopping Block?
Published: Feb 26, 2023 at 03:19 AM
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been identified as a cut candidate, according to Brad Spielberger of PFF.com. The former Sooner finished the 2021 season with 1,205 rushing yards, 314 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns while also being selected for the Pro Bowl. However, he took a step backward last season, failing to hit the 1,000-yard rushing mark while amassing only nine trips to the end zone and a disappointing 3.9 yards per carry. Moving on from Mixon will clear much-needed cap space for the Bengals, a team prioritizing retaining Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins. It could also open up a path for Samaje Perine to become the undisputed backfield option in Cincinnati, assuming the club wants to sign him in free agency.
