Jaxon Smith-Njigba To Have Wrist Surgery

Published: Aug 22, 2023 at 03:47 PM
Seattle Seahawks rookie first-round wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) is undergoing wrist surgery in Philadelphia on Tuesday, but he could still have a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to sources. Surgery will determine how long he'll be out after he injured the wrist in Saturday night's preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. The 21-year-old has impressed players and coaches alike in his first training camp this summer, leading many to believe he'll have a big first season in the NFL. This injury will make fantasy managers a bit more hesitant to reach on the rookie pass-catcher, but he's still worth considering as a WR3/4 in redraft leagues. If JSN does miss Week 1, Cade Johnson could jump in as the No. 3 wideout behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
