Jameson Williams Is Motivated
Published: Jul 05, 2023 at 03:12 PM
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, who will serve a six-game suspension to begin the 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy, is being mentored by receivers coach and former nine-year pro Antwaan Randle El. "I don't have to motivate him much when it comes to ball. He loves the game and wants to be better and works at it," Randle El said. "But the encouragement part, with all that's going on it's just, 'Hey, keep doing what you're doing; stay at it, in terms of working hard. This is just another stumbling block that, again, you'll come out stronger on the other side.'" The 22-year-old missed 11 games in his rookie season in 2022 while recovering from a torn ACL, and he'll miss the first six games in 2023. However, when the 22-year-old is eligible to return, he could see a high volume of perimeter snaps as a high-upside deep threat.
