David Montgomery Finds The End Zone Again In Week 5

Published: Oct 08, 2023 at 09:13 PM
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery ran for 109 yards and a touchdown off 19 touches during Sunday's blowout win over the Panthers. He added two catches (six targets) for 20 yards. The former Bear amassed a season-high 5.7 yards per carry in this one, and he surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the second game in a row. While it was nearly a foregone conclusion that Montgomery would stay involved at a high level in Week 5, considering the Lions were without Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) and Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring), fantasy managers were still happy with the performance. At any rate, even if St. Brown and Gibbs return for the Week 6 matchup with the Buccaneers, Montgomery will remain a must-start fantasy option, primarily since he's one of the busiest backs in the NFL and has scored in all of his appearances during the 2023-24 campaign thus far.
