Courtland Sutton Learning From Former Saints Receiver

Published: Jun 30, 2023 at 02:59 PM
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has studied one of new head coach Sean Payton's most prolific receivers from his time with the New Orleans Saints in Michael Thomas, specifically from his standout season in 2019 when he caught a then-NFL-record 149 passes for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns. "[I'm] just diving into it [to] be able to see how he may have run a route that we are learning right now. Figuring out ways to get open," Sutton said. The 27-year-old has a similar stature to Thomas, and if he can add elements of Thomas' game to his own, he could reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first time since his sophomore season. Sutton will have to battle for targets among Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and Marvin Mims Jr., but he could be a steal in fantasy drafts this fall.
