Commanders Monitoring Kareem Hunt

Published: Jun 16, 2023 at 04:55 AM
The Washington Commanders have quietly been making preliminary inquiries behind the scenes on free-agent running back Kareem Hunt, according to a league source. It remains to be seen if this leads to an opportunity for Hunt with Washington, and it's intriguing from a fantasy perspective given Hunt's ties to new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy from their time together with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Commanders already have Brian Robinson, Antonio Gibson and rookie Chris Rodriguez in their backfield and have been hyping up Gibson's increased role as a pass-catcher this offseason. Hunt wouldn't be guaranteed a big enough role to become relevant outside of deep PPR leagues in D.C., but his arrival would certainly put a damper on Gibson's potential sleeper qualities.
