C.J. Stroud Officially Named Week 1 Starter

Published: Aug 28, 2023 at 01:25 PM
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has officially been named QB1. Coach DeMeco Ryans made the announcement following the team's preseason finale on Sunday. The move comes as no surprise, with Stroud starting each of Houston's three preseason games. The 21-year-old has the tools to become a franchise quarterback but patience will be required for fantasy managers in 2023. The rookie is considered a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues and does not need to be rostered in standard-sized redraft formats, especially with a difficult Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
