Brock Purdy Moves Ball Effectively In First Action Back From Surgery

Published: Aug 20, 2023 at 04:04 AM
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) drew the preseason start and moved the ball effectively in the opening drive of the 49ers 21-20 win against the Denver Broncos on Saturday night. He completed four out of five passes for 65 yards in the brief appearance. The drive fizzled out and ended in a field goal, but fantasy managers will be happy to see Purdy pick up where he left off in 2022, when he won the starting job and led San Francisco to the NFC Championship game. He left that game with an elbow injury that required offseason surgery, so it was good to see Purdy fully healthy and sharp. As successful as he was last year, Purdy is not likely to put up startable fantasy numbers. He's better left undrafted, except in two-quarterback leagues.
