Bengals Remain Tight-Lipped About Joe Burrow's Status
Published: Aug 30, 2023 at 04:07 AM
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said a snag in contract negotiations with quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) is not why he isn't practicing. Burrow hasn't been at practice since straining his right calf on the second day of preseason workouts on July 27. "I think he has a very healthy body," Taylor said. "And I'm encouraged by that." Taylor was non-committal on whether Burrow would return to practice next week ahead of Week 1 of the regular season. If for some reason the 26-year-old isn't ready for the Week 1 opener, Jake Browning would get the nod under center. Burrow has had plenty of time to heal up since suffering his calf injury, though, so it would be a pretty big surprise if he's not ready to go. When active, Burrow will be a must-start, high-end QB1 in fantasy lineups.
