Bears Being Cautious With Darnell Mooney

Published: Jul 26, 2023 at 06:24 PM
Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) was cleared for training camp earlier this week after suffering a season-ending broken ankle in Week 12 last season. However, the Bears coaching staff is easing him back into action at the start of training camp action. According to Adam Hoge of CHGO Sports -- he did some 7-on-7 work today and looked pretty good. Mooney said he has full confidence in his ability to plant and separate. "Whenever they let me out of the cage," Mooney said. "I'm ready to go." The former 1,000-yard receiver will likely be utilized as a field stretcher in 2023, so Chicago will probably continue to limit his on-field work for at least the next couple of practices.
